switching to different ECU for 98 prelude

hi- i was wondering if it is possible to completely take out my stock ECU and replace it with a different, more workable system. when i say workable- i mean chip- compliant. if it is posiible- what type of system should i get, how much might it cost and how much could i sell my ECU for? and also- is it even worth swapping ECU's or will i run into alot of problems? thanks

You could swap your ecu with a gsr ecu and you would get pretty significant gains, but you will need to get a Hondata system to straighten out your power curve. If not, your power will lag like hell at around 4,500rpm then spike like a mother which isn't good.

check out hondata.com it has all the things you need to know about instaling a new computer. i think you need the P72. not sure. i think its like 100 or so to instal one and something like 400 to 500 to tune it if its N/A and somewhere in the vecinity of 900 for forced induction. also include dyno time.

you could also use a AEM EMS to replace your ecu. That's what i have and it work good. price wise AEM EMS is about the same a hondata counting you have to get all the extra parts to make the hondata work on our cars, since the 5th gen is OBD II and it doesn't like performance mods. Look around for preformance shop on your area tosee what they can tunned and go from there.

Re: switching to different ECU for 98 prelude

cant u just get your car dyno tuned with the new gsr p72 in your h22a? would that solve the problem of having to get an hondata system?
