'69 Owens Corning Corvette

Kit: Monogram Owens Corning Corvette
Decals: Fred Cady - stripes & numbers, Kit decals - sponsors, Kieth Mark - emblems

I have several period photos in my reference library of the OC sponsored Corvette of the ’69 season running with full windscreens and even hardtops. None of the photos are of this specific OC livery however. Regardless I chose to build my model with a full windscreen. This was built several years ago when my philosophy was less rigorous show we say. I hope you like it anyway. My approach now to vintage race car modeling is to build a specific car (chassis number) at a specific point in time. The build is based largely on an article in Motor Racing Replica News written by Bud Thon. A bit of trivia Bud Thon was an animator with Pixar. His work includes Toy Story and Finding Nemo.

Those Vette hoods are among the nices hoods out there. Love to see these late 60s versions. Really appreciate your work!

Re: '69 Owens Croning Corvette

Terrific job! I agree with JeremyJon that the racer tape is a great touch, and very convincing.

Thanks also for the trivia about Bud Thon. One of the later issues of MRRN/MRM mentioned that Bud had to leave the magazine staff due to demands of his new job. Very interesting to finally hear what that must have been referring to!
