1997 ford explorer

looking at buying a 1997 explorer with 170,00 miles on it. what should i look out for?

Was that an issue on the '97 with the solid rear axle? I had the leaky axle seals and parking brake shoe issue, but don't recall having the pinion noise on that generation.
