What is T/D sensing swith on Toyo Kogo 5 speed manual for?

I have a 1986 Ranger XL 4x2 with a 2.9L V6, now up to 176K miles and after a new timing chain and other work, it runs great, MOST of the time. Now it has developed a violent miss, like the engine is completely dead for an instant. Sometimes it won't do it for weeks but then it might do it once a day or several times a day. It IS noticeable. I was thinking it was the ignition module AGAIN, but it is not that old. (I know that doesn't really matter).

I just got a code 67 out of the CPU. My code reader book is not really clear on this. It says Manual lever, (MLP) sensor out of range, which might be the AC system lever. it also mentions Neutral Drive Switch (NDS). this doesn't make sense for my problem. it also uses 67 for Adaptive fuel limit lean or rich at idle, but the problem only occurs when the truck is going down the highway.

(I guess this could be one of those problems I just have to dig into and start checking whatever I can find. I can check the switch to see if it works and start from there?)

My guess is fuel pump is ready to go and is now giving you the warning by stopping for a second or two. Or something in the fuel tank moving around and stops up the pickup screen for a moment. I'm pretty sure that is an electric fuel pump, maybe the electrical connector is loose and disconnects under certain conditions. A loose connection can also cause it to heat up and melt the surrounding plastic that contributes to further problems. But really, it could be hundreds of things. Trying paying attention to when it happens to get a pattern. What speed you are going. How much gas is in the tank. Is it a bumpy road. Has the fuel filter been changed on a regular basis? Might be time for a new one. I'm not saying it isn't your ignition module, sometimes new isn't a corrected part, just a new one and has the same unreliability as what already broke. I'm just saying at that age and miles, and if it was mine that would be my first suspicion until you can get it to happen again or something actually breaks.
