232k on mine. It was weak so I replaced it before it failed.

Re: 98 3.1 fuel pump longivity=??
Kinda depends on how often the fuel tank is run to "empty"; and whether the fuel you put in the tank is contaminated with rust or dirt particles.
Pump on my '93 failed at about 140K; and I replaced the pump on my '92 at about 120K "just because" I didn't want to be stranded on an upcoming long trip.

Re: 98 3.1 fuel pump longivity=??
As stated, what usually determines the life of a fuel pump is:
keeping it cool by keeping it covered with fuel(don't let it go below 1/4 tank) regularly replacing the fuel filter(2yr,24K), so the pump doesn't overwork against a plugged filter... keeping contaminants out of the fuel tank..... Have seen low mileage cars need fuel pumps...there is no set mileage for failure...... |
