Do you have a leak? If yes, where?

Re: POWER STEERING RETURN LINE 03 impala

Attached a pdf that hopefully helps. The return hose line on the 3.4 is essentially a two part line. First part connects to the steering gear and routes along the engine cradle at front under the rad area, then loops back on itself, this is actually called the power steering cooler line. Then it connects with the actual return line and swings up to where the power steering pump is. Its usually a section of rubber hose that has been clamped on, that is the connection between the cooler line section and the return hose section. I have had to replace that section of rubber hose for it gets stiff and has a tendancy to leak, which introduces air into the system. I usually hold the new piece of hose in place with the appropriate size gear clamps (ones that you tighten with a flat head screwdriver or small 1/4" nutdriver.

Hope this helps
