2014 Fall Tokyo Hobby Show

Aoshima
McLaren F1 GTR Long Tail Locktite
Lamborghini Murcielago R-SV 2011 Zolder
Toyota Crown Athlete w/ 18" wheels
Toyota Crown Athlete w/ 20" wheels

Hasegawa
Nissan Sunny Truck Long Body Deluxe (GB121)

Tamiya
BRZ Street Custom
TS93 Pure Blue
TS94 Metallic Gray
(I wonder what these sprays are for...)

I hope more will be added.

Now, does the Sunny Truck have a cult following or something? A quick Google search showed lots of customs with an S20 turbo and even a VQ35. Aoshima's Samber was reportedly successful, and Ebbro keeps making all-new van kits. Maybe Hasegawa decided to rethink about the light commercial vehicle market because of that?

I wonder what does the BRZ street custom is compared to the normal stock BRZ?

Hasegawa's recent offerings have been very random. But I like what they are coming up with. No complaints

The BRZ custom sounds interesting, I wonder if it includes any engine goodies...

If only Hasegawa would reissue the two EG Civic kits again, can't seem to find one for a reasonable price anywhere

Funny you mention that. I have been wanting a model of the Sani-Tora for over 20 years and finally Hasegawa is making it happen. Needless to say I will be picking up a couple of those.

What is your idea? The rumor is T's F14T but are you thinking a Merc is in the works? Something else?

Re: 2014 Fall Tokyo Hobby Show

From Hasegawa's own blog the Sunny truck has a choice of normal or lowered suspension, and steel or Watanabe wheels. Looks like they have taken a page out of Aoshima's playbook. Makes me wonder if a line of nostalgic Japanese car kits will follow if this kit is successful.

http://www.hasegawa-model.co.jp/hblog/?p=635

The only thing that worries me is the statement "few parts... easy to build". I hope it does not mean molded in chassis and suspension parts ala early-2000's Tamiya.

For blue, I have no idea, but Tamiya already has several shades of blue, so the new color's intended use must be a good seller, or it'd be strange to release a new product. For metallic gray, I'd love to see the Porsche 918 as a 1/24 plastic kit, but that's just a wishful thinking.

Re: 2014 Fall Tokyo Hobby Show

Aoshima's "Thursday Guy" posted a funny rant, and I thought it'd be interesting to share because we don't get to hear candid opinion from manufacturers very often.
Mine is a quick, rough translation, so for those who read Japanese, visit here: http://ameblo.jp/aoshima-kumablog/day-20140828.html

[Omitted the beginning]
Next month's Tokyo Hobby Show merchandize has been announced
one after another this week. But...! But...!!
Before I make my announcement, something shocking happened.

1/24 Samber, which was released last year, was well received,
so as a follow up, I was preparing for the Sunny Truck!
For instance, I had already arranged a car to study, and Samber's tires
could have been used for the normal version [of the Sunny Truck].
All that's left was to put the plan into action.
I had never imagined a car like this would face competition,
so I was thinking of the time frame of 2-3 years from the Samber kit,
but I totally fell behind. It's my fault.

The car is so niche in this niche market, so once a competitor gets it,
it will not be released from Aoshima.
My Sunny Truck project is shelved for good.

So frustrating!
The sense of loss is enormous because I've been planning this project for years.

So frustrating!!
But it can't be helped. It's first come first serve.

Those who've helped me on the Sunny Truck matters, I'm very sorry,
but the project is canceled.

The shock is so huge...

Now I have to think about something else...

[omitted the rest]

it does seem the likely candidate though.

Re: 2014 Fall Tokyo Hobby Show

At least Aoshima is lucky this time for not having proceeded in the project yet. Now that the Sunny truck is taken maybe they can do the original Daihatsu Midget instead, if they can do it for cheap.

I am surprised no one makes one yet, and there are several possible movie and anime tie-ins if they want to expand the versions offered.
