Re: Flat tire noise no flat tire?

Is the sound proportional to vehicle speed or engine speed? What is the vehicle year, make, and model? Does it seem to be down on power and/or fuel economy, or just making a noise and vibrating? Does the noise change if you lightly apply the brakes?

Smile Re: Flat tire noise no flat tire?

Its an older vehicle 1997 Ford Escort LX lately it seems like I'm going through gas a lot quicker and the power seems to not be the same picking up speed seems to be a lot more difficult and going up hills I have to have my foot right down on the gas and still it has a rough time (the mechanic said its because the engine is small and doesn't have a lot of power? but I never use to have the problem this badly) the flat tire noise I find it happening a lot more when going down hills only usually when my food is off the gas and im just kinda coasting along as soon as I start to accelerate or put the break on it seems to go away the noise sounds like its coming from the front end of the vehicle on the driver side

Thanks you for the help

Re: Flat tire noise no flat tire?

Does the climate control work fine, with air coming out the vents that are selected? When is the last time the car had a tune up?

It sounds to me like you might have a significant vacuum leak or ignition misfire.

Re: Flat tire noise no flat tire?

Check your wheel bearing. Also, does your steering wheel involuntarily turn to one direction when you are not directing it? Does your car swerve to one direction if you do not harness it? Could be the control arm failing, and it could be many more things. You should take it to a local car tire shop and have them jack up the car to see if the wheels wobble while jacked up. If it wobbles, you need to replace your wheel bearing. If your wheel turns by itself while jacking up, you need to re-align or replace the control arm.
