Re: transaxle light on

Welcome to the forum!

Is it the "Check Transaxle" light that looks like a gear that is on, or the "Check Engine" light? I can't think of any transaxle issue that would prevent the car from starting.

Do you have access to a diagnostic scan tool that you can take to the car and check for powertrain diagnostic codes?

Also, when you say, "car would not turn over and start" we've found that means different things to different people. Does the starter motor spin the engine over it just doesn't fire off, start, and run? Or does the starter not even spin the engine over?

Do you have a way to check for fuel and spark?

Had she just driven over a large pothole or similar bump in the road just prior to the car stalling, maybe something big enough to trigger the fuel pump inertia switch?
