'97 Dakota Daytime Running Light issue

'97 Dakota, 2wd 3.9L automatic

Replaced the old DRL module with a replacement today. Once connected up, nothing happened right away. After turning on/off my headlights a couple times, the running lights eventually came on and the blue headlight indicator on the dash was lit. I tried shutting the lights on/off a couple times and switched to hi beams as well. All good at this point, I'm thinking wow, that was easy !

After a 10 min drive i stopped the truck and shut it off. I turned off headlights and I noticed the blue headlight indicator still lit on the dash. I got out top check the DRL's and they were on (seemed to be full power on, and they did not dim 50% either. The lights stayed on and would not shut off, despite playing with the on/off headlight switch again. I decided to let it sit for a while.

The lights remained full bright for approx 5 min after shutting the truck off. After approx 5 min they finally "dimmed out" to off. I then started the truck up and i had no DRL's : ( Turned the headlights off/on a couple times but it did not bring the DRL's back. Now, when I turn the headlights on, the blue headlight indicator is not lit up. The headlights lights do work however only normal & emerg). No DRLs

So, long story short), do I have an intermittent wiring or connection like problem or is the replacement DRL module wonky ?

I'm open to things to try out,

Steve
