What is it about your first car that you miss the most - the car itself, mods, the way it handled, the kind of sound system you could afford to drop cash on before the realities of adult life hit home or just driving out for a cookout with friends?
Some responses on this blog and Reddit thread, but thought it would be interesting to ask here. What do you think - do you agree with what people posted or not? |

Re: What do you miss most about your first car?
Hah - my first car didn't even have a back seat - It was a 37 Dodge Coupe. I miss the car simply because wife to be and I started dating in it back in the 60's.

I miss the dent it did 'not' make in my wallet. Cars that good are not easy on the wallet nowadays.

Re: What do you miss most about your first car?
My first car was a 1956 Mercury, Red and with with nice lines. I miss the distributor, points and plugs I could change. I was a teenager and even changed a whole front wheel-A frame assembly when I wrecked it.
Today you have a car with a computer and plugs you can't get at. Headlights and doors that don't work cause they all go thru the computer. Wiring diagrams that go to a black box or a 'module'. My good old car was easy to repair and trouble shoot. The only expensive part on it was the automatic transmission. Please give me back my car with a distributor and points and get rid of the computers!!! |

I really miss the classic ambiance inside my old car. I feel like traveling back in time whenever I rode it.

Re: What do you miss most about your first car?
I miss how ugly, slow and overall strange it was. My first car was a 1988 ford escort 1.9L 5 speed that ran on 3 cylinders over heated no matter what and had 388,000 MILES on it, the strange thing was it was LOADED for the time, tons of chrome power everything A/C 6 speaker stereo 600 warning lights on the dash sun roof heated mirrors and a really nice inside in general. I like how much I didn't care about it and when it got hit and when it crashed into the ditch and got all dented and messed up I was like ehh adds character. but then the fuel pump went so I had to scrap it
