2001 Windstar Why make simple hard.
Well I'm a just a retired electrical controls engineer with many hours of design and repair of relay, PLC, PC, and server controlled systems. However, I must laugh at the this stupid Ford 2001 Wiring diagram booklet that I paid $15.00 for.
Oh it shows the relay I'm interested in (PCM Power Relay) on pages 13-1,13-11, and etc. and the relay box lid lists the relays by number, not name, and the booklet shows only names??????????????????????? Must I remove all the relays and trace them with an ohmmeter by the corresponding fuses. The fuses are located by number in both documents. Or has Ford hidden the cross-reference? Relays listed in manual : PCM, Horn, Fuel Pump, A/c Clutch, Start, HiSpeed Fan, low Speed Fan, Acc Delay, Rear Defrost, Switched System Power#3,#4, etc. etc. Relays shown on relay box lid: 201, 202,203,204,205, 206, 207, 208, 209, 301, 302, 303, and 304. How do I match them???? |

I believe my book ('96 Windstar) has a section in the back with drawings that show the locations of the components.

Re: 2001 Windstar Why make simple hard.
Okay I found the numbers ARE listed on page 193 (I think) of the owner's
manual. So all I had to do was write the numbers into the boxes on page 11-2 of the 2001 Ford Windstar Wiring Diagrams, then double-check my work against the diagram on the 'Battery Junction Box'.. |

Yes, I also found the glove-box manual to be a good complement to the diagram book. In fact, I copied the pages from the glove BM, and added them to the diagram book for ease of use.

Re: 2001 Windstar Why make simple hard.
... of course you will run across many wrong and missing items. For instance, my diagram book has no motor for the LH power window. I drew one in on page 100-1. Also, on some relays the coil is powered in the reverse polarity of what is shown in diagram ... can be confusing at times.
