2003 Lesabre Limited

Car will not start after a fuel fill. I let is sit for 10-15 minutes and it starts O.K.
Check engine light is not lit.

Is this a fuel pump problem? Or is the evaporative system involved?

Re: 2003 Lesabre Limited

It will not start?

Does the vehicle crank over and not start, or it doesn't crank at all?

Look at the SECURITY light on your dash when you turn your key to on(don't crank the vehicle).....does it go out after 5 seconds, or does it stay on?

This only happens after a fuel fill?

Yes,this happens only on a fuel fill. Otherwise everything is normal.

I can hear the fuel pump run and then stop after a few seconds which I consider normal when I turn the key on. The Security light does go out.

The engines cranks O.K.

Re: 2003 Lesabre Limited

The fuel pressure is good.

Replacing the fuel regulator fixed it.

Thank you everyone.

Re: 2003 Lesabre Limited

But it doesn't make sense....a f/p regulator that somehow fails only during fill ups?

Re: 2003 Lesabre Limited

I blame it on a leaking f/p regulator which caused a flooded engine condition after a long idle waiting for a fill-up..

The car runs fine now.

Re: 2003 Lesabre Limited

I can see, if you have a leaking f/p regulator having a problem with starting on a hot engine, even causing a stall, because the vehicle is running too rich, and you want a leaner fuel mixture on a hot engine...if it leaks on a cold engine, no problem, because you want a rich condition on cold startup.....

But only on a fill up? still just doesn't make sense....

Re: 2003 Lesabre Limited

Thank you for the update. A nearly 30-day test drive is pretty clear evidence of a completed repair.
