1998 Bmw 528i (e39)

Some radios for 528 BMWs 1997-up have an "onboard computer" in them. You can compute mileage, DTE, ETA, you, know all the neat stuff your grandpa's 1981 Lincoln could do (no offense to BMW!) Anyway, I have presently in my 528 the factory "digital, indash cassette, 6 disc changer in truck, clock and non-onboard computer" radio. Can I hook up a new factory radio with the "onboard computer" option through the existing wire harness or am I looking and additional harnesses to the engine sensors, etc.?
