Hobby Town USA is a owner franchise business. There are some accual corprate stores but most are owned locally. The one in my town is a franchise store, and the only thing they don't do from the corprate stuff is not hold the Hobby Town USA model contest

Its most likely just your store.....

Scott

PS---try Hobby Link Japan for your Tamaya fix.

The HobbyTown USA closest to me (Columbia, SC) closed a few months ago. What a coincidence but i guess you are better off getting stuff online as HobbyTown's prices are a bit steep.

Hope mine doesnt close. I doubt it though because they're remodeling. As much as I hate that shop for its prices and availibilities, I will miss it if it ever closes down.
Not as bad as an RC track closing down...

The Hobbytown USA near me is stocked excellently with supplies. I'd go there again but it is about half an hour from me, and the kit prices aren't the best, but for supplies they can't be beat (well...I'd like it if they switched from Tamiya mini bottles to 23 mL bottles and added Humbrol enamels). But other than that it's a great store.

MR2_Lancer,

Try finding out the next closest store and drive there if it is not too far! I had to drive over an hour and a half one way a few weeks ago to get some kits at another HobbyTown but I don't think I will ever do that again!

one that same note and sort of cross threading.....

Anyone else think that Hobby Lobby needs to have more imported car kits? Sure they have lots of Tamiya kits for planes but only one or two kits for cars. I would like to see more Tamiya as well as Fujimi kits at Hobby Lobby.

MR2_Lancer -Just be glad you had one while it lasted! Being 16 you will have to be creative, but I'm sure you will find a way to get what you need online.

SugarCaddy- Hobbylobby is about my only hope for Tamiya models around here. Their supply is very limited when it comes to autos and bikes. I have befriended the little lady that takes care of the models at my local store and she keeps me informed of what's going on with their plastic models. They have absolutely no control over what they stock. Apparently there is a master inventory list for all Hobbylobby stores and they send out whatever is available to the stores at random times. I have bought everything from Modena's and GT3s to 350z's and WRC cars (plus a few bikes) at the store here. I had to go out of town last week (during the 1/2 off sale) and stopped at 5 different Hobbylobbys between here and Houston. They ALL had the same exact inventory. Only odd kit was the AMT F&F Supra at a store in Houston. At $6 I passed on it!

i was thinking that this morning. I got my wrc focus there for half price and they just got in the toyota race car, regular and clear. I hope it comes in gradually cause the model places around here are quite expensive.
