how to ruin a cd player?

Hi, all i have a Sony xplod that i got from bestbuy about a year ago. Well i have a 3 year warr. on it. The thing is i am really tired of it and want to get a diff one. They will let me return it and use it as a payment for another one(so if i got a $500 one i would only pay 200 for it cause i payed 300 for the sony) So this is all great but there has to be something wrong with it for me to do that. My question to you guys is how do i make it not work with out it looking like thats what i did??
Thanks-

I actually did this same thing before. The method i used is a little dangerous but it worked. I had an old electric cord from a lamp and i spliced the ends and connected the power and ground from the cd player to them. Then i plugged it in to a outlet. It will short it out with no trouble. Id use a outlet with a switch for it cause you do get a few sparks.

Hey, i did what u said with the cd player about hokkinh it to the outlet. I took it back to Bestbuy and they sent it in to their tech. ppl. to try to fix it. Did they do that with yours?? Also i think all hooking that cd player up to the outlet did was blow the fuse. Anywayz if you would tell me your story about what you did i would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks-

LOL, this is funny. Them tech. will figure it out. They will know that a car don't push that much voltage to burn it up like that. LOL, I would try to keep a straight face. If these people know what they are doing they will know you did something. If not, then there must be complete idiots working there. Oh btw, if your old cd player does pass the inspection... then i suggest you get a Pioneer CD player.
I would have brought this up under car audio forums. PaulD would have came up with a lot better solution. Anyway, good luck chevyfreak. I hope you don't end up getting yourself into too big of a jam over this cd player.

this is a direct quote from the bestbuy performance service plan. " This plan provides complete power surge protection from the date of purchase on the product covered." Thi suse to be my job if they ask just say one day it was working and the next day it stopped the tech people their really arent that brite i rolled my subs down the stairs to break the cone and they were none the wiser.
