High mileage Prelude worth it?

Here's the deal, I found a 92 5spd Si in PERFECT condition. Drives great, only one problem...it has 195,000 miles on it. Blue Book price is about 4000, but i don't think i can get it for less than 4300. Normally i would just continue looking but i'll have a hard enough time convincing my dad to let me get a lude and it'll help this ones pretty cheap.

I'm afraid of having serious problems after racing it a couple times. Assuming that the block is still good, how much would it cost to rebuild with new rods/pistons? The other choice would be to find a low mileage H23 to replace it or a non-vtec H22, either of which would probably be more than i want to spend. So with that info do you think that i should buy this lude or would it be WAY cheaper to find a lower mileage lude? If so what year/model range could i find for 5k? Thanks for any help you can give me! -John

One other thought...anyone every experimented with a B18? If it would fit my sis has a not in use T3 i could get pretty cheap.

I'm picking up a lude 92 Si, with 125,000 miles for $3800 New engine, 4 very small rust spots, other than that, perfect. 195,000 miles isn't that bad, you should take it (they're hard to find) and work on rebuilding the engine when you can. that's my

Oh and a B18 in a lude, never heard anyone do that, sure they have but from what I understand it's a step down from say an H22 or a Turbo H23... could be wrong.

Icemaster, same feelings exactly...
I think i'm just gonna go for it, check all the seals and take it a little easy to start with. The one thing is though i'm not gonna offer more than 4k for it. I have no problem keeping it under 4500 rpm and not racing it until i'm sure it can handle being pushed and i have enough to afford a rebuild if i need it.
After driving one i frickin' want a prelude so bad right now!

get it

even though it's got 190000 miles on it it is still a great car. hondas are the most durable engine out of all the imports. i say jump on that deal and have fun with it.

dude im almost 17 and got a 93' prelude si.It runs awesome but im in the middle of rebuilding...already did the head-port polish,3 angle valve job, port macted it,etc.but im getting a new short block...maybe from jg engine dynamics(if anyone knows of other good companys tell me)ive been searching for a H23 block and its almost impossible ...anyway buy the prelude and either rebuild something on the side or save up you more than likely wont have a problem..my friends 94' lude has around 250,000 and he stills races it so good luck.

I'm so pissed right now, that bastard went and sold it on friday for 4k before i could make an offer. Really its me fault for not making an offer on the spot, but i hadn't really talked to my parents that much about it yet. So it looks like i'll either have to find another inexpensive lude or a good condition civic. An inexpensive lude only because thats the only way i could get my dad to go for it.

If i end up getting a civic what do you think; coupe or HB?
My plans would be to drop in to drop in a B18A(Integra LS), along with a matching tranny. Don't particually like the way a stock hatch looks but its not too bad...i do like hatch backs more for convience. Coupe isn't to bad looking.

Need suggestions!!

Of course, I say go for the lude. Lude > civic IMO. My lude gets way more looks than my civic did... but my civic was bought for $400, was smashed in the front and back, had no brakes, and was made in 1984.

Don't get buyers fever for a purchase as big as a car. The last thing you want to do is buy some piece of shit and dump an assload of money into it. Of course, if you are going to do a swap... Buy a piece of shit. You'll save money.
