2006 Hard to shift from park when hot
Hello,
I have a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT with the 3.8 and 135,000 miles. Whenever it is hot out and the engine has been running it is hard to shift either from park or back into park. Today it completely froze on me and I had to wait for it to cool down before it would shift into park. Has been doing this for a few years but this is the worse. Temp out is about 80 today. Any ideas? |

Well all I can say is if it were me I would disconnect the linkage at the tranny and check for binding from there to the shift lever. If that looks good you may have a binding TRS in the tranny but I've never heard of it. Beyond that it's beyond me.

Re: 2006 Hard to shift from park when hot
I have a 06 and had the same problem a number of years ago. The dealer replaced the shift cable and that corrected the problem. The old cable would bind up. My repair was covered under warranty but the shift cable was $70 back then.
