Oil filter adapter
Need help, 1997 jeep ZJ 4.0 need info on how to remove the oil filter adapter to replace o ring. can not break the bolt lose, any one had this problem.

I had a shop do this and I can offer a couple of hints:
1. There's a Torx wrench fitting (I have a '94 Grand Cherokee - I'm not positive it's the same). Try a big breaker bar (there's limited clearance, so you might not have a whole lot of room to swing the wrench) 2. The shop left a pretty noticeable gouge on the side of the housing, which indicates that they might have used a screwdriver and smacked it with a hammer to spin it loose. One universal tip is to soak it in PB blaster while figuring out what to do next. Hopefully these ideas will help! |
