spoon honda s2000

im working on a version of the spoon honda s2000, theres plenty of variations that they've raced but im sticking to a fairly std body, as scratch building a crazy aero kit is not what i want from this model! this is to be a quick build..... i hope.

im using the tamiya s2000 spec v as it comes with the hard top and correct wheels needed for this car.
the tamiya kit seems good as usual....

heres what i plan to do

so far ive preped the body, its now in white primer ready to go for the painting, it will need a masking job obviously, it will be fun doing that 'ripped' kind of look that spoon use on their cars.
it will be my first attempt at such a masking job.

also the std brakes were not so good, i was happy with the diameter of the disk so just swapped out the calipers from a donor rx-7

scratch built roll cage also done and primed.

That's gonna look awesome!! Great idea on using the RX-7 calipers. I really like how the roll cage came out. Good job. Can't wait to see more...

Re: spoon honda s2000

Looking good so far! If your handy at Illustrator & can design up that ripped line, you could take the file to a local signwriter & ask them to cut it out of a cast vinyl to use as a paint mask. Most will be good buggers & might do the job for dozen cold ones...

Re: spoon honda s2000

thanks for following again guys....

hondasan;
thanks, the std calipers were horrible, i really needed a good chunky set of two piston calipers i can paint blue and appy the 'spoon' decals to.

da_ashman;
thanks for the idea mate. i will look into it!

Re: spoon honda s2000

heres the decals ive acquired for the build
its two from HD, one is from their 'option parts' series that seems to be made for this car, and the smaller set is just to get the 'spoon' caliper decals from.

Re: spoon honda s2000

UPDATE!
i have painted the body

I had a go using tamiya masking tape and it worked ok, not flawless but i honestly didnt think it would work this well.
if i did it again id certainly be able to do a better job, it was a good subject for my first crack at this style of paint job.

no progress shots, as i honestly didnt know if it was going to work or not, but here it is.
the blue is darker than the actual car as i painted it without any natural light and didnt take enough time to get it right but i dont care, its good enough.

i have noticed, after measuring up where the color break needed to be, that the decals are a little on the large size (remember this decal set wasnt exactly made for this car)
it'll be tight, but fingers crossed they will all fit into place ok.

Re: spoon honda s2000

thanks for the comments.
the exhaust was easy to make, just different diameter styrene tube.
the tip is a metal tip however. ill take some better shots of it once its all done.
