NNL model show

I'm trying to decide if I want to enter but I don't polish my models shiny or think I'm anywhere near the skill of the pics I've seen online. Is it worth the $10 to enter?

Re: NNL model show

Probably not!! Many people who take models to these shows don't even enter they just put their models out for display. NNL's are not you average IPMS type show. There more of a popularity contest because generally the awards are decided by people's choice. If it is a true NNL there won't even be any awards. After all the NNL's were founded as the "Anti-contest" contest and nationally recognized modelers were frond upon if they entered hence the name "N"o "N"ational "L"uminaries. If you go, go for the fun of it. Don't expect to win a trophy, you will probably be disappointed if you go there thinking you have a ringer.

Re: NNL model show

As Icon Modeler mentioned, NNL style shows are not meant to be contests but more of just a social gathering for model enthusiasts. The entry fees are just there to help the club cover costs of renting the facility, printing flyers and stuff for raffles and such. Go and just share your work, don't worry if it's a museum piece or not. You'll probably find that most will be willing to share ideas and techniques or help with problems because it's not a competition based event.

I'm assuming you're talking about the NNL this weekend in Bloomington, I'll be there, hope to see you.

Mike
