How much for a B16?

How much would it cost me for a complete B16 swap, and what would the labor charges be for a shop to do it? Also on a scale from 1 to 10 how difficult is it to do a B16 swap yourself? Thanks.

$1300 for a complete B16, trans, ECU.

We usually charge $1000 parts and labor for the swap.

on a skale of 1 to 10 this would rate a 6 on my difficulty scale, Not something most people do, however with the right tools it can be done fairly easy.

other than hand tools, I rented the engine hoist, and the impact wrench to complete the swap.

Took me 2 days to get the old motor out and the new one in... getting it running was a different story.

the HCP kit made it super easy, and I stronly recomend the cable adaptor, save money save time.

If your going from a DPFI you will need a little more wirering, but all in all not too bad.

yea i agree, this swap isnt that hard if you have some skill and some tools to work with.

average NY shop install prices are anywhere between $3-3500 for parts and labor.

1300????? Where are you finding that? The lowest Ive found was 2200, but that was a B16a SiR complete conversion with LSD equipped. Thats the lowest I've found, but even then, id need to get aftermarket axels and motor mounts, plus labor costs, so tell me, is this 1300 b16 hydrod or cabled clutch?

I got mine for 1087 with motor, trans and ecu. Too bad they jacked up the price to 1300. You dont need aftermarket axles unless you're goin for 250 and up horsepower and lots of torque

The reason that is so bloody expensive where you guys all live is because its too bloody popluar.. demand>supply - price goes up.

see my post. i dont "beleive" in paying what something is worth, let alone what people ask for. i low ball everything, and eventually find someone who just wants to get rid of it.

sorry for the jab about the spelling

exactly

there is always someone trying to get rid of something good and they don't know what they have. When i needed an engine i mistakenly passed up a 91 integra d16 engine w/ trannie and ecu and all parts (well, 100k engine) for $300 when i finally realized what a sweet deal it was it was gone the guy said "i can't believe how fast it went" and i wanted to slap him upside the head, he was gonna sell his 89 si for a mustang anyway he didn't even give his 4g the respect it deserved. oh and by the way the reason he was selling it was he thought it was a b18 when he bought it in the bay of a 1g rex.
damn i'm sleepy.
