98 3.8 oil overfilled problem

Hello a family member has put way too much oil in my lumina. Engine has a small oil leak- engine oil level became low and they put oil in i believe without checking the level. Shortly after extra oil was put into the vehicle it lost power and was driven about half a mile back. A little smoke was coming out from the exhaust when I started the car. I shut the car off and started to check it out. At first I seemed to think its issue was fuel/ignition related. The car would not
Restart. I checked the dipstick and needed to drain about 2 quarts. Then I pulled a plug it was wet with oil. For the next hour or so I pulled all six plugs and cleaned them. I cranked the engine without the plugs in to try and let any oil fly out of the cylinders. I replaced all the cleaned plugs and it started up instantly. It smoked a lot out if the tailpipe I let it idle for a minute the smoke diminished a little. I decided to take it down the street about 500
feet down the road it started running rough I turned the car around and barely made it back to my driveway car died out would not restart fouled plugs again. My question is how do I remove the oil in the cylinders? I don't want to keep removing plugs and cleaning them the back 3
Plugs are a pain in the a$$. Hopefully there is no permanent damage. What about removing plugs and spraying carb or intake cleaner sea foam deep creep?

I don't know why two quarts overfull would cause those sorts of problems. I get that the plugs were fouled, but you cleaned them. Were they in good condition otherwise? Gaps set properly, electrodes not rounded, etc?

"I" would just clean or replace the plugs again, see what happens. You may need an O2 sensor if the one you have has been poisoned by excess oil in the exhaust stream.

A scan-tool would be somewhat helpful in this situation.

Plugs are in good condition. Gaps are good on all. O2 sensors will be replaced once car is running good. I cleaned the plugs today and went to restart the car. Starter engaged but didn't turn the engine(I could feel it torque on the flywheel) after about 3 or 4 tries it started to turn the engine but seemed out of sync it was way louder then I've heard a starter before it was getting dark out and will give it a try tomorrow. Maybe the starter teeth are stripped? Not sure. Codes on the scanner are same as about a year ago last I checked-

I'll measure the over filled amount tomorrow looked like about 2 quarts when I first pulled the dipstick it was a good inch plus above the cross hatched area.

Unlikely that you have so much oil still in the cylinders that it's causing excess compression or a hydraulic lock. I'm wondering if the battery/starting/charging electrical system is in decent condition.

You've had four codes for a year, and never bothered to address them?

Battery was on a tender I checked it and it was @ 12.7v
I had the same codes about a year ago when the vehicle needed a new coil. The code for the fuel tank pressure has been present ever since it was replaced about 4 years ago. The fuel pump included a different type of sensor and stated that it would likely throw the trouble code. The other codes I believe are for the o2 sensors. I will change those once car is up and running.

with what you have stated my guess is your gonna need new cat converters..

remove the upstream O2 sensor and leave that hole open then drive it around see if it starts faster also.. burn off all that excessive oil if it does run good with the hole open then start addressing the failure codes..

being this old I can believe you do not want to spend much on fixing it..
