2002 Insturment cluster
I have a base 02 with the 3.4, a couple of months ago the turn signals stopped working randomly. When they were/are not working the air bag light stays on. All gauges work but after trying the turn signals a few times the insturment cluster will act as the car has just been turned on (gauges sweep and all warning lights come on then go out). I tried replacing the multifunction switch, hazzard switch, and today put another cluster in it, still doing the same thing. About a week ago it didn't want to start, when I turned the key it did nothing(thought the solenoid my be bad) untill I released the key, it then cranked for 2-3 seconds. Did this 4 times then started like normal. ANY ideas would be helpful.

Re: 2002 Insturment cluster
Need a scan tool capable of reading, PCM, IPC, BCM, and "U"(communication) codes......most code readers/scan tools just read PCM codes...

Re: 2002 Insturment cluster
I removed the ignition switch and cleaned the contacts. Everything now works correctly, except the left turn signal.

Re: 2002 Insturment cluster
Yeah...on these Impalas there is always a problem in the electrical dash area. Wife has one and random lights light up on the instrument panel, a/c and radio will out of the blue cut off, etc. You can get the radio and a/c to work again by hitting just to the right of the steering column under the dash with the heel of your hand.
I have checked and mechanics have checked and they nor I have been able to find a problem, i.e, short, or anything. Welcome to the Impala club. One of the worse pieces of junk GM ever made.
