short ram - resonator removal??

I am putting a short-ram AEM intake into my 00' civic EX. Previously I had a CAI installed where I removed the resonator so the pipe could run under the front bumper. Will the short-ram fit without removing the resonator? if it does, do i gain anything by removing it/keeping it? more air space for better cooling or big space for water to splash up and hydrolock? Thanks guys

the short ram will fit even if the resonator is still in place. you could take it out so it will let some more air get to the intake, but thats about it. unless you get some of that dryer duct tubing and run the tube so that you can direct some air to the intake.

Don't do it man. That type of Ram Air just turns your car into a street sweeper. Read reviews on those things - they are no more effective than cold-air induction, and all kinds of crap and water can get into your motor.

i was talking about leaving the intake with the filter and just get some dryer duct tubing and just run one end from a vent hole or something on the front bumper and bring the other end onto the filter. if you thought that i meant to take the filter off or something like that then thats not what i meant.

I have done that with the dryer duct tubing. I took out the old stock resonator box though, then ran the dryer tube into the hole that goes into the front bumper, and I cut out the passenger side grill and put the tube right up to it. the tube bends VERY VERY EASY!!! careful not to kink or crimp it, easily done, that will slow down the air big time. also, because its easy to bend you can just cut the back of the grill insert and not the bars or anything. and mold the end of the tube right around that thing.

also, the dryer duct, where it's better than nothing, is not smooth on the inside, very bad for air flow velocity. it does work pretty well as far as getting cooler air to the filter, but it's not a very high rate. You'd be better spending the coin on an iceman intake that has a solid, smooth, pipe that is meant to go in that hole and right in the front passenger side part of the bumper. I believe that K&N and AEM also make pipes for that purpose.

check the search function, I believe there is a thread already with this that I posted pictures of the above on.

yep.
here here go....

now, this is no longer present in my car. the crease in the pipe, ugh. and you don't have to use the funnel like I had on there. Putting some silicone, or something soft around the flex piping will be enough not to cut the filter.

hope this helps.
