Question Which Car?

I'm down to just around 5000-6000 and I want to buy a car that will be fastest for the $. (Specifically in 1/4 mile time + good accel.)
Whatever money I dont spend on the car I can use for engine swap or other stuff-so keep in mind)
I choosing between: (all have pretty damn high miles)

88 Crx-Perf Cond-Stock-3000$

85 Toyota Supra-Stock-2000$

87 RX-7 Turbo-3000$

91 Civic SI----2800$

90 240 SX---3000$

If any of those are good deals--or if you have a different idea on a car-please say so-(possibly del sol)--thx

you can get a 240sx for about 1500 and then throw in an sr engine, that would get you really fast

other than that i'd say the supra

you should be able to find an s13 (89-94) for under $2000... look on ebay

http://search.ebay.com/search/search...Sort&catref=C1

yea the ka-turbo is prolly the better idea, you can run anywhere from high 13's to a dead 12.0 depending on the amount of money you've got. one that runs 13's should go for around 3000, if you want to hit 12.0 it will cost around 7500-9000.

Don't bother with the MkII's, Unless the 86 is actually a 86.5 which is when they first made the MKIII but were only Naturally Aspirated for the first year. But the best of anything you have mentioned is the 87 Turbo, easily modded and if you run into some money you can always do a 1jze or 2jze swap.

In my opinion, I would say the RX7, unless you were to use it for a daily driver. The RX7 is an easy car to get fast, no matter what generation. So if you want a cheap car that is fast, don't go with a Honda.

I wouldn't suggest the 2jz swap because first of all those engines are expensive and hard to find an american version (there is a difference between the JDM and Amercan 2jz-gte, did you mean the gte or another 2jz?). After that the swap will cost an arm and a leg unless you go in and do it yourself. I have had a hard time finding the 1jz engine upgrades also. But I would recomend the MKIII over an MKII because as stated earlier, it is much easier to find parts, even at supra specialists such as supra store or titan motorsports.
