2000 F150 - Door Ajar Sensor?

Another problem that has had me baffled forEVER... Occasionally, while I'm driving, or while I'm parked, or other random times, my "door ajar" light comes on, along with the internal lights and the back window brake light. Seems every car I've ever owned has a pushbutton in the door way that the door pushes and turns off the lights, indicates the door is closed. I cannot for the life of me find such a swich on my F-150. It's a year 2000. Sometimes when it comes on, I hear what sounds like a loud click up under my dash. I'm at a loss as to where to troubleshoot it. I cannot even tell which door is the culprit, because both doors are fully closed whenever this happens. It just seems to go away on it's own eventually, and sometimes it happens several times a months, and sometimes it goes several months before it happens again.

anybody ever chased and caught this gremlin??

Farns

Common problem on fords. Sticking door ajar switch. U can remove door latch then switch spray some wd40 and u r good to go. If ajar switch is located in latch.

The new switch cost about 90-100$ so its better to fix it. This problem includes explorers expeditions and all kinds of fords.
