Question 'bout an engine

A friend of mine went to an auction and paid 60 bucks for a '87 Integra Rs. He bought it wanting to snatch the engine out. Question is, Is there a stamp on the engine because I couldn't find it for him. It has a brown valve cover and it's DOHC. Some sites say it's a ZC D16A1. I am asking because he is dumb when it comes to imports, he builds and races Chevys, oldsmobiles, etc. He wants to put this engine in his 4g HB, but needs for me to see what kind of engine it is. He is also willing to sell the engine to me(for the low low of course). Help!!!!!

its a d16a1 unless its had an engien replacement then it might be a zc but not the zc that bolts into our car. the 1st gen integra engines bolts into a 3rd gen civic but not 4th gen. You have to make new mount spots to use it and its not worth it at all, they are only 118hp. Might as well save up a lil more and buy a JDM ZC (130hp)

i know what you're talking about when you say it doesnt have a block ID plate. while scavenging through the junkyard, i always check out hondas and i noticed that some of the 1st gen tegs dont have that ID plate. I think maybe like the first year they made them doesnt, or something. but yeah, notice how the mounts are in totally differnt places... Now if you had an 84-87 civic/CRX si, it would be a nice upgrde as well as a direct bolt in swap.

D16A = ZC in some parts of the world. Our CRXs came with the ZC in '88-'89 and then some had the exact same engine stamped D16A in '90. I'm not sure, but seeing as our cars were built in Japan, it may be the case for other countries too.

The 1st gen Integra motor is absolutely useless....It is by no means a Zc, or it would have the badging. The motor code denotes it as a d16axxx or something. It only LOOKS like a ZC

The 86-87 Teg motor is REALLY useless. Thats why you cant find a badge, because they didnt start printing the number on the block until 88. In 88, that motor changed to a different distributor. Thats why guys who need dizzy's for jdm Zc's have to get them from either a 88-89 Teg or a 88-91 Si. Thats wherer the similarities stop.

Like the other guys said, the motor is only good for those who want to do a easy swap into a 86-87 Civic/Crx. For the amount of work needed to just make the thing drop into a 4g, the same power gain can be had with I/H/E.......

My advice would be to fix the car up nice and use it as a beater, or sell it for a few hundred bucks.

I wasn't gonna put that engine in my 4G HB. I am working on a B18B Turbo for my car. I was asking on his behalf. I'll tell him it's not worth it. He will probably give it to me, and I was gonna try and sell it to make some $$$. Thanks

Also Problem_SI: You didn't read what I said, I said it didn't have a code on the engine (87) and you explained that they didn't stamp the engines until 88+. So thanks for that info. I did do some research and got alot of mixed info about whether it was a ZC or not. Most people said it was a ZC.

Also the engine in there looks like it was probably swapped, because we saw the stamp they put on the head, it had writing from a shop on the valve cover too (like when you buy an engine) That was my reason for asking these ???'s to try and verify what type of engine it was.
