because its a hard decision . Because a 5 speed auto shifts perfectly and the manual is all dependent on the driver , ive never seen any stats avout a 5 speed auto VS the manual it would be interesting to see.

Genuine driving enthusiasts use manuals 'cos you get better control [through corners etc]

I know there's probably exceptions, especially in America, but this tends to be generally true at least here in the UK

Automatics are for shopping carts & OAPs

for manual, u can control the car's power and u have better launch. In auto, u have no lose speed because its switchin gears by it self, but i dunno how that would really help. i mite b wrong tho.

I really think the 5 speed automatic would win , because it would shift precisly with no human error.

If everything were equal, down to the trim of the car, and two equal weight twins were driving the cars, and the one twin shifts at the same time the automatic does, and just as swiftly, than that is a tie. But that's were it can be changed with a manual car. It depends on the driver, and the driver alone. Automatic transmissions are built to shift at the safest rpms depending on how far down you have the throttle. Manual, you can shift whenever the hell you want, it's just the question of if you pop a piston through your hood or not.

RACING covers alot of things; in a Drag race, you'd find them pretty equal if the manual driver knew what he was doing

On a REAL TRACK I'd lean in favour of the Manual, for better control of speed/revs through corners for a good fast exit
