Looking for a 90s

So far I haven't had much luck with this question anywhere else. Looking for something older, (preferably before 2000), easy to work on and find parts for, and with a reliable engine. Would like to stick to compacts or midsize at most, or perhaps a smaller SUV/Van.

Now here's the catch, I'd like to stay American. Which is why everyone seems to scoff at the idea. Surely there are SOME decent American cars made before 2000?

Oh, Forgot to mention. FWD or 4WD. Rear wheel not exactly doable around here in the winter and I'd like to be able to drive my car year round.

Up to 93, full size Dodge pickups were bulletproof. Lots still on the road.

As much as I'm NOT a GM fan, a Chevy S10/GMC Sonoma pickup would probably fill your requests nicely. 4WDs in decent condition aren't easy to find, but with a little patience, you should be able to come up with a fairly nice one for $5K or less. They are pretty easy to work on and parts are cheap and available everywhere.

Edit: for SUVs, the Blazers and Jimmys built on the same chassis as the S10 would also qualify. The only caution I'd throw out there for any of these vehicles is that some of the V6s are prone to losing intake gaskets; which, if not repaired quickly, can severely damage the bottom end of the engine. Even then, used replacement engines aren't hard to find or particularly expensive. Unexplained coolant loss is usually the first clue.
