Has any Buick owner solved the high idle issue yet???

A few years have gone by and I STILL have the intermittent issue. Lots of parts have been replaced, some to try and help this issue, some just for maintenance or failure. Have tried everything I could from reading forums online, talking with those at the auto parts stores, and several different mechanics who have stated "I can't find anything wrong". It looks like this is an issue in this and a couple other models of the same type. GM may be "aware" of it, but can't tell you what to do. Just wanted to take another shot in the dark and see if anyone who reads this forum has solved this old issue or not. My throttle position sensor set off my engine light yesterday, which is alright, and seems to be the symptom to this problem, but that is NOT what worries me. While at idle, and it throttles a little high, I have to mash the brake pedal so my car doesn't go flying into the one ahead of me at the stoplight. Of course it is an exaggeration, but it will still end up tapping it in the least of circumstances.
Can anyone help???

Can we assume the base idle has been set to factory specs, and the tps reads correctly at base idle? Also no vacuum leaks. What year by the way?

1994 LeSabre.
I assume it is to specs. Each time (3) that I have replaced the TPS, it is set and not adjustable. Assuming this is what you are asking.

Re: Has any Buick owner solved the high idle issue yet???

I've been having the same problems with my 94 buick lesabre, when I unplugged the mass airflow sensor it corrected the idle but sputtered. I replaced the part and it's still doing the same thing. TPS is fine, IAC is fine, Throttle body is clean, and still no fixes. I've been scared to drive it while it's doing this because I don't know what's wrong and don't want anything to give out on me and strand me somewhere so I've left it parked but I need to fix it ASAP.

Re: Has any Buick owner solved the high idle issue yet???

I put a new Mass Airflow Sensor in it thinking that was it and it didn't work. When started the car idles at 2000rpm, one it's shifted into reverse or drive it idles at 2500rpm then when put into neutral or back into part it goes up to 3500rpm.
I don't hear any hissing sounds to indicate an air leak and there's no clicking or high pitched noises it just revs up really high and we can't figure out why.

If you don't have a vac leak, then either your throttle plate is not closing all the way, you have an IAC problem, or you have a PCM problem.....

Has the vehicle been scanned for codes?

What year?

Well, would like to say first off, thanks for the reply. Second, I finally got rid of the Buick about three months ago. The TPS had been replaced three times in as many years, so it definately was NOT that. The mass air flow and IAC was replaced as well. Don't have to worry about it any longer, but if that is what solved your issue, good for you. My Buick slowly started circling the drain, so I just called it quits on that money pit.
