This happened a couple weeks ago, on a friday evening. I was stopped at this light when a 300ZX pulled up next to me, and reved. I laughed because I didn't think I had a chance, but I'm almost always up for a race. So I nod at him, and take the rpms up to 4200, and the light turns green. I work the clutch out perfectly, and get probably my best launch ever, and get about 4-5ft on him. I keep that lead on him(plus or minus a little from our shifting, but it always returned to that after the shift. I stopped and hit the brakes at about 65mph. He had to be a NA 300ZX, but still I should have lost. I drive a '99 Mercury Cougar V-6 with a couple minor mods. A Borla exhaust, and a B&M Short Shifter.

That does not matter. I have a 95' 300ZX auto trans. It's moded out now but when it was stock I spanked a couple of cougers. I don't know?! Maybe those few mod's pushed you out in front that little bit.
