Photo radar: where's my ticket?

About 2 weeks ago I was following my friend to go to the Salt river here in Az. Anyways I was talkin' to the girl in my passenger seat and messing with my radio etc. Well I was kinda tailgaiting somewhat so that no cars could get between us and get seperated right. Well As i look up from adjusting my radio volume i see this white van on the side of the road parked and then 'Flash' photo radar. I looked down and i was doing about 65 in a 50 mph speed zone. Here's the thing, I was following so close to my friend that i dont' know who the picture was taken of, me or him? Well both me and him haven't gotten a ticket in the mail yet with our picture so what the heck? Here's what i'm thinking. I think that he set off the camera and it took a picture of the back of his car (liscense plate) well maybe because i was so close to him that i actually blocked the camera from seeing his plate number? And maybe the camera wasn't at the right angle to get my plate number either? is this possible?!! that would be the most awsome-ist thing ever. But i dunno we still havent' recieved a ticket so can someone enlighten me here?

I beleive the camera vans take a pic of the front license plate , at least thats what they do here. Its possible that they simply tossed the pic out , since it might show 2 cars , or if you friend does not have a front plate. I used to love to "buzz" those camera vans when I had a temp tag on my car. I'd blast by doing like 90 in a 40 zone , get down a ways and circle back. I did that to one van like 3 times in a row , and then left before the cops could show up.

What a great revenue creation concept, which is pretty much all most "law enforcement" technology/activity seems to be aimed at these days...

I'm so sick of it.

Just another way for the government to keep tabs of the people. They have been installing cameras on stop lights around here for a while now. They also run a helicopters daily over the highways, setting up speed traps.

Not all of the stationary radar machines take pictures. Some just flash at you to tell you that you are going too fast. There are a couple of those around here. They are annoying as hell and no one actually listens to them.
it is probably impossible for the cops to prove that you were actually going that speed also because there is no way to tell if the machine was properly calibrated

Yup that sound about right. It happened to me here but i never recieve a ticket. The meter was in accurate anyway. it said I was doing 55 in a 45 but I was actually doing the speed limit (for once.)

The day they made traffic tickets part of state revenue was the day cops became the enemy. A police department should NOT be run like a business.

You're talking about the boxes that display speed?

No problems then. Those are designed to track the average motorists speed on the road so they can properly set speed limits. The government won't give you any visible warning, they'll just ticket you with some lame entrapment attempt.

What none of you people have even thought about is a good defense against such a ticket. Like "Prove I was driving that car at that time." Other people drive my car. Why should I get a ticket for one of them. If you went to court with a defense like that you would probably win.

What he says it true. My uncle got a ticket like that in california. He was hauling ass through an intersection, and he got the picture back in the mail. He has this evil ass grin on his face, both hands clutching the wheel. He got the ticket wiped though for some reason unknown to me.

I wonder what speed camera they are using. If you go fast enough, everything will look like a blur... You could also just wear a mask wherever you go, and flip every one of those cameras off.
