BRG McLaren F1?

Hi,

Does anyone have a photo of an F1 finished in British Racing Green? I have seen some photos with a shade of green but not one that I can honestly say is BRG (like the Lotus Elan Jim Clark Edition).

TIA,

D. Drew Ingram

I've never seen a photo of the BRG F1 - sorry man.

It would be interesting though so if anyone else has it, please post it up.

That's pretty close to what I was thinking. On the classicars.com site they list only 1 car finished in BRG. That is surprising to me given the car's British heritage. I attached a picture of the Lotus for reference. This is the color I would choose for an F1 if one were mine.

Thanks for the picture!!

I'm fairly certain that we determined that to be car #073 painted AMG Green Velvet.

British Racing Green, as I am familiar with it, is normally a much darker shade of green - almost black and not Metallic. Here's an example of an old Lotus Elan painted "BRG" over white.

The photo that mini_magic posted could definitely be the one. Hard to say...

I think jkbon nailed it with that second picture (with the Michelins). That looks like real BRG to me. Such a sweet car in my opinion.

Thanks for posting everyone!

Actually, I'd put money on the car in the second photo that jkbon posted being XP5 - remember that even though XP5 appears black in almost every photo, it is really a dark shade of green. Its color is always listed as "Dark Metallic Green". I think the British Racing Green car would be close in color, but I still don't think we've seen a photo of that particular car.

mini-magic -

That's the same car as the other photo you posted. I didn't think of it earlier, but that could also be XP5.

XP5 doesn't wear the decal on the lower body that identifies it as such anymore. Who knows when or where those photos were taken though. My guess is that is still not the 'British Racing Green' F1 because of the metallic-blue look of the color where the light is hitting it.

Notice what happens to the color of that same Lotus Elan I posted above when a flash photo is taken of it:

True BRG is more of a flat green color and as you can see it is closer to the yellow end of the green spectrum than the blue end. Who knows what McLaren Cars used as a sample for the BRG car though...
