Getting into mechanics...again

Hey everyone I am actually re entering the world of auto mechanics and aspiring to be an enthusiast again.

I actually haven't done any other maintenance or repairs on a vehicle in a long time, since about high school when I took auto class.

I am just look for some simple guidance as to how I can get back into the swing of things. Perhaps some good reads to pick up for a start or what I should familiarize myself with.

I am 22, in NYC and a Front End Web Developer. So I was actually researching some shops to reach out to that didnt have a website and I would build one for them for free, in return all I ask is that I can come by the shop, to hang around and learn some do's, don'ts and how to's.
