Do I need to upgrade brakes?
Updating to an LS3 motor (480 HP) in a GTWC (chassis #13) which still has a stock 4.6 4 cam that has about 320 HP. For those who have 400 plus HP motors can you give me advise on what I can expect with the stock brake set up?

Re: Do I need to upgrade brakes?
What is the current brake set up on the car you have? If it is the PFC rotors with the big Brembo Brake Kit, then I think you are probably good to go. These brakes are pretty robust. You might need to change the pads to a little more aggressive set up. My car had the PFC 97 Enduro Pads. They did not have enough initial bite.

Re: Do I need to upgrade brakes?
Yes, I have the Performance Friction 12.91" x 1.25" rotor (friction ring) with Brembo F50 calipers on all corners. Yes, I am not happy with the initial bite on the pads I have now.

Re: Do I need to upgrade brakes?
My experience is that the rotors and brake calipers are more than sufficient. Experiment with some different pad compounds and find one that meets your needs. The engine I had before the LS1 swap was a built Ford 347 stroker making just under 400 wheel hp. Braking was never an issue.

Re: Do I need to upgrade brakes?
My son did 95% of the work. You can review the entire build on this forum. The thread is posted by Cobra4B. He did a fantastic job.
