almost stock 91 civic lx 4 door vs stock 03 corolla

anyways, I raced this guy a few months ago and he pulled about 2 carlegnths on me, it was on a 2 lane left turn.

Anyways, I saw the same guy today at lunch and we both pulled up at a light, so im like, maybe this is gonna be more fair since its a straightaway ... so I was watching the other light, and as soon as that shit turned red I went to go did first pretty good ... then shifted to second and he pulled on me slightly, but then I started to pull away again, hit third and I was gone ... around 70mph he hit the brakes for traffic up ahead and it was over. Overall I would say that I had about 3/4 of a car legnth on him.

Now hes trying to say I went when the light was still red ... but I contend that while the light may have been red when I started, it was probably green when I crossed the white line ... he doesnt seem to understand the importantance of a reaction time.

Anyways heres my list of mods

1991 civic lx 4 door
SOHC ZC swap (still running DX dual point fuel injection)
Short Ram Intake
High Flow Cat
Performance Muffler
Bosch 7mm wires and plugs

I was on full interior and had my 2 12's in the back.

His car:
2003 Corolla LE
Completly stock

thanks man ... this is great ... hes been calling my car slow for a while after the first race happened ... and I checked specs online and all that shit and never asked for a rematch cause i figured he probably was faster and like I said earilier im running the DX dual point fuel injection system which is built more for economy and gas mileage than the 88-91 EX/SI Multi Point Fuel injection system.

He has an auto too so im sure that helped me out ... after the first race my buddy with an s10 (who also raced him later that day and won) was telling me about how he probably had the advantage due to the turn cause I had to worry about shifting and turning while he just had to hit the gas.

Someone with a stock setup (I should know lol) has no right to call someone's modded car slower... you two are like on the same level, if I were him, that first race I'd say was complete luck.

they are actually not that slow and I am still kinda suprised that I beat him today, but I chalk it up to the fact that he has an auto and his reaction time sucked ... still a fair victory regardless.

All 2003 models regardless of trim level have

1.8L displacement double overhead cam (DOHC)
inline 4 cylinder configuration gas engine
16 valves variable valve timing
130 hp @ 6000 rpm 125 ft-lbs. @ 4200 rpm

wrong ... at a drag strip I would have launched on the last yellow because by the time it hit green I would have crossed the line ... its the same principle.
