type r

can i use short ram made for type R which i think have a 3" diameter for my ls engine? i think the regular short ram intake for the ls has a diameter of 2.5"

Sure with the right silicone adapter coupling, but if you think that is going to help performance over the standard ls shot ram intake then you got another thing coming...
