2 engine crx, its been done
I was reading a car and driver or road and track and they mentioned about a 2 engine crx one of the writers built. they used 2 b16(?) engine with auto trans. they welded th engine trans and stock supsension in the back and locked up the steering. I beleve the hp was about 160 each or 320 total, and thwerebone stock motors. I was thinking of having my friend with a manual 1.5L to upgrade to 2 b20a5s because there soo cheep and work up from there. 4.0 liter is alot more potential then 2.0.
so has anyone acctualy done this, im a good welder and fabrictor and think i can pul it off qoute nicley. but it woudl hel pi anyone can give me some help so i know how to hook it up. i would imagine i will have to make a rollage intergrated on top of the subframes to support the extra motor. But what else? Are the back seats going to be possible?

no chance for backseats, especially in a crx.
you'll need to do loads of custom work to even get the motors to run, let alone fit them in the car, the car would prolly have the shittiest handling of all time, and even if you could turn it, your radius will be wider than a damn mack truck. you need to highly modify the car, and all the electronics and shit for this to even work right. dont waste your time or money, buy 1 good engine and play with that.

I saw that tibouron in a car mag a couple years ago, they put one engine in drive and one in reverse and did some crazy burnout for a snapshot. The escudo has two twin-turboed V6's... If you can pull this off you better post some pics. You would definitly have an original crx, but it won't be easy. You'll probably have to mount the engines facing the same way so shifting will work the same on both. They will both need tuned to work on the same exact page too. I don't know any of the specifics but if you've got the time, money and skills have at it.

2 engines means 4 wheel drive and 300 hp stock! Thats alot more then one factory engine can accieve with stock internals, for alot less. having the engine in the back wouldnt change the turning radius? explain to me how this would happen? The back wheels are still straight and at the same poston and your turning with the same front wheels. to get the motors to run all they have to be is hooked up to the same auto shifter and throttle, and them both be auto. They would work as seprate engines but would both be movin in the same direction, kind of like an engne electric train (one motor per axle).

throwing another engine in would make it heavier. So, in turn, you are going to need all the extra power you can get to lug around the dead body (engine). you are going to pay a lot for gas. And it's going to handle like shit. You'd be better off saving your money(that you would spend on filling two tanks of gas and on two engine troubles) for a decent motor and modifying it.

that tiburon didnt have any of those negatives you guys talked about, like turning and stuff, with the exception of the bad gas mileage. it also ran 10s, but it ran on methanol and had a small turbo ghetto rigged on each motor.
and you would put the motors facing the same way, but haveto come up with some pretty crazy shift linkage to have them both shifted by the driver.
