tranny fluid question

I understand that the Honda manual transmissions use regular motor oil and not gear oil... my question is this... is synthetic oil ok? if so i plan to use mobil 1 10w30 any comments?

in my old 1990 Honda Civic LX I used the same oil I put in motor in tranny

and yes it was 10w30
