WIP Revell BMW 507
Right, trying to get back into documenting what I've been doing.
This was started a while back and I took a few photos of what I had done back then. I had a bad habit of prepping and painting bodies and then stuffing it all back into the box and this was one of the victims. Engine was also assembled, given a basic painting and started on the wiring. Got as far as the distributor and plugs. You can see here that I had done the usual removal of the moulded in belts. I had also made a start on the interior. Made little hinge/frames that you can see peeking up from the corners of the seats. Tub was sprayed with Suede texture paint and the seats are a flat coat of Tamiya acrylics. The two don't match but I kinda like the result. and that was as far as I had gotten. Trying to use this as a backbone, as it were, to concentrate on which would would hopefully get the other niggling bits on those other started kits finished. It's always easier for me to do multiple other things if I have something else "bigger" to work on that I'm waiting for paint to dry, or solvent to set etc etc.

Re: WIP Revell BMW 507
Excellent, you're doing very good so far. I did this kit back in 2006 or 2007.

Re: WIP Revell BMW 507
The interior works somehow, looking good!
What paint / brand is the suede texture you speak of? |

Quote:
I think it works because it suggests different materials; leather and carpet. as for the suede paint, it is my trusty surface texture maker: Plastikote Suede looks like this

Re: WIP Revell BMW 507
super - looking forward to seeing one of your projects WIP-ified
Body color looks superb and I also agree that the interior color scheme works

Re: WIP Revell BMW 507
little bit of extra work done on the engine:
i) made a coil to sit of top of the engine ii) removed belts and replaced with tape (being painted...) mildly rusty looking exhaust headers in place (had to test fit the entire exhaust system so I thought I might as well fix them now) While looking at the wiring and plumbing for the engine, I made a start on locating the various points in the firewall where they interface and drilled holes as necessary. Door inners were given a coat of Tan, as was the dash top but the dash face and firewall were painted body colour as per the real car. and how everything is looking test fitted together
