Rust bucket

My 2000 xlt with 144,000 miles is vanishing before my eyes. The entire 8ft bed is litteraly turning to dust. I love this truck...no other major problems at all. What a shame!
Are replacements beds available? I looked for used beds but they are as bad as what I have.
Anybody else have this problem....is this a "ford" problem or do all trucks have this problem. I have two friends thst have chevys and have very little rust. Any thoughts! Thanks

My bed on my 99, which has about the same mileage, is starting to rot on the bottom of the outside.. from the inside out. My biggest rust problem is the entire under side of the truck - it was a farm truck. I have never seen anything so rusty underneath!

Re: Rust bucket

You can probably find 'em all day long down here in the south. I'm sure shipping is available. The only ones that rust out badly down here were used by pool services. The liquid chlorine they use kills 'em in short order.Like they came off the Great Lakes.
