Who gives money to beggars?
When you are walking down the street, and a homeless person asks you for some change, what do you do? I like to give my change every now and then, shit like .25 to $1, nothing real big. Just pretty much all the loose stuff I have in my pocket. I geuss it makes me feel good giving it to the "homeless", instead of buying that overprice Mt. Dew at work. I know sometimes im helping them get their next high, or buy their next bottle, but maybe I'm helping one eat for that night. I'm not going to judge what they are going to do with the money, hopefully they'll do something good with it, and that's why I keep on giving.

Occassionally, I'll do it. What I do though is, to give me piece of mind so that I know that they use the money to eat and not get high is, I'll go buy something for them to eat. That way, I know he got some form of nourishment.

I'll drop them a coin or two. Whatever I have in my pocket. But mostly I stick to suburbia so I don't have to face them...

We don't have too many beggars over here. Mainly just buskers. If they are playing something really good are really talented, I'll usually throw something into their guitar case if I've got any spare change.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no, my parents try to discourage it when I'm with them. Why can't they just apply for some sort of labour? Or anything? Maybe I'm asking the wrong questions.

I don't really live in a "walking" sorta city. Can't be bothered to stop, roll down windows, etc in traffic. My family came to the US about a dozen years ago with no material possesions, and no we're not "rich" but we've made a good life for ourselves. Hard to justify giving away more of my own money to people who aren't using their time very productively, when I know so well they could be.

I probably would give away change, like quarters, and the odd dollar or 2, but we dont really have beggars around our city. And the few areas that we might have beggars, i usuially avoid, cause I got no reason to go there neways.

I do occasionally give them some pocket change, although I usually prefer to buy them something to eat. In the past, I've carried around some extra food, ready to give to someone. Here in town, we have a lot of homeless teens. Most are too prideful to ask for any change, but they will ask for a warm place to stay. We don't have any shelters locally though. It makes me very grateful to have a warm place to lay my head at night.

We have an effective enough and easily enough exploited welfare system, that theres no way im giving money to beggers.
If thier homeless its because they choose to be, not because they dont have a choice in the matter. Of course in the US I might look things a little differently.
