Unhappy S14 in a S13

I'm new to the forum and im sure this has come up before and sorry to annoy anyone. Would it be better to put the S14 or S13 SR into my 89' Hatch? I dont know how extensive I will go in mods but i want something that will handle and get out of its own way. I'm having problem after problem w/ my KA24E and the next time something happens it's comin out, or i get another car. By the way i was looking at getting a clip cause I have some parts in the Bay that need replacing. Thanks.

if your gonna get the clip get the s13 to keep with your cars intended lines. thats just my opinion, since sil-80's kick ass.

he was asking about engines, not body panels.

i'm personally planning to put an S14 SR20 in my car. a bit more power off the bat, not TOO much more money, and they're newer. in the long run, it doesn't really matter though. either engine can be tuned madly, and if you want the cheaper of the 2, the S13 engine will probably end up costing you less to build up to the same level...

I know you asked about the SR, but I just thought I'd say that if your tight on money you could check out the KA24DE and then you could turbo it or mod it other was or whatever the case may be, if your not interested just ignore this

I've been doin some research lately and found the RB25DET conv. really appealing, it's not much more than the SR and requires little custom work. The other alternative was a RB20DET which is essentially the same as the SR except it seems to be cheaper and has six cylinders. What's you opinion on this swap? Thanks I appreciate it.

SR20DET

going larger displacement effect weight distribution alot more over the SR

I was told the RB is only 100 pounds heavier than the SR and if im not mistaken the SR is lighter than my KA24E so the weight shouldnt be to far off of what it was originally? But im not sure on exact weights for the motors.

100 pounds is still alot of weight

if an SR is lighter then you can save more weight swapping over from the KA

The RB25DET is the same weight as the KA24DE, and its not THAT big of a deal when your pushing 300+ hp... seriously guys, its like saying taking off your hood will make you faster, it may, but not significant enough to justify the time in taking it off. Im still on the rocks between the SR and RB, and the only thing pushing me to the SR is that i have a lot of information for it, a factory service manual in english, and there is a bigger aftermarket for it. But the RB25DET is VERY tempting. its totally up to you bro... whatever floats it.
