2004 Impala, key fit problem when turning ignition
On my 2004 Impala, I've noticed that the key doesn't "fit well" when turning it in the ignition slot. I tried the spare key, and it also has the same problem. It feels like it hits something then slips off to turn ok. I'm worried that it won't turn at all one of these times. Any comments?

Re: 2004 Impala, key fit problem when turning ignition
Well, if your spare, which is not worn like the one you use all the time, does the same thing, then it looks like the tumblers in the lock cylinder have to be replaced(coded).......dealership or locksmith can easily do this....in fact, I would replace the cylinder AND tumblers....
I am not an advocate of spraying or lubing the lock cylinder.....tends to catch/trap any dirt on your key, causing future problems.... |
