More fun with Maisto Harleys
I've been playing with Maisto Harleys again, using the leftover parts from my chopper project.
I thought the Springer was too retro (for my taste) and looks "busy". So, with the latest round of Maisto releases, I decided to make some changes. Here is the "stock" Springer Softail from the Maisto lineup, in blue: ![]() ![]() There are more detail shots @ http://modelbiketech.tripod.com I decided to make a custom Softail from a red one. I added the front fork assembly and fender from the Dyna Glide Sport. The lines on the rear fender were also cleaned up, which required repainting the fenders to match the tank (the Dyna fender was orange, and I haven't seen an orange Springer Softail). The paint on the fenders is Testors Stoplight Red brushed over Duplicolor Pewter - I was too lazy to fire up my airbrush. The owner decided a single disc up front wouldn't match his enthusiastic riding style, so dual discs were added. The fender struts were also cleaned up. A Fat Boy donated it's rear disc-style wheel to the Softail as well. And, here it is: ![]() ![]() ![]() And, here are some comparison shots: ![]() Here's the Springer Softail head-to-head with my custom Softail. ![]() And here they are "side-by-side". Just for those who haven't seen it yet, here is the Dyna Glide Sport, similar to the one in the Revell Harley F-150 kit, though I haven't compared them yet. ![]() Whatcha think?
