strut install fluid=-??
98 lumina,base model.209,000 miles.
planning to replace both front strut cartridges with a/c delco oem . alot of posts several years ago about do or don,t putting oil in the install job. i considered monroe sensa trac. spoke to them . they said fill 3/4 with any brand of automatic tranny fluid. i,m getting different answers to this question from different people. any of you guys did the job and how did it go? And does it usually require the mount kit? as always thanks for any advice. jamesmetairie |

Re: strut install fluid=-??
There should be plenty left in there, it can't really get out. Mine had plenty left in the wells when I replaced the OE cartridges a few years back.
Unless you just want to remove and replace it with new, but I don't think it's really necessary. Long as the cartridges are partially immersed it will be fine. You don't want too much in there or it will splash on the mounts and degrade them over time. My mounts looked pretty good but I replaced them anyway. They weren't too pricey. You have access to that GM10 strut tool to remove them? I ended up buying one.
