tune up

hey i need a tune up or something the only thing i have not checked or cleaned is my fuel injection system, i just bought a 1.5 jdm engine and had a shop convert it from carberated to dpfi and now i am having problems the longer my engine runs the less power i have i couldn't make it up a 20 degree slope the other day and volvos and trecels leave me in the dust, i need some advice here... i plan to slap on a vtec head to get some of the power back cause i hear there isn't much diffenence between the lower end blocks... (honda trying to save money?) i want do know whether or not i can do anything to salvage this jdm engine or if i should have just asked them to rip a carberator system off of a 3g civic.
