You need one of these, before you start putting a motor in your car.

He only said the ECU was OBD I. If the motor is, he should check local law regaurding older motors in newer cars. You generaly have to stay within' your cars emissions teir for it to be a registerable legal swap.

... and you are from Cali? Man... I hate to sound like a dick, but IMO you just waisted a TON of money. First off, the swap has to be SAME YEAR as your chassis, or newer. If it is OBD1 as mentioned - that means the motor is 1992-1995... Ive never been good at math, but im sure those years are BEFORE 1997.

Your state has the absolute stictest policies when it comes to emissions and legallity of "swapping" - of which you need to provide paperwork to get a sticker to prove its legal... you will be denied.

I really dont think you will be able to get a local shop to drop the price. Like I said, just make sure it is the same year or newer - anyone who DOES swaps should be able to tell you in like a minute by looking at the VIN if they are reputable. They should also be able to guarentee the fact that it is...

Yes, if your car is already taken apart they should be willing to come down a little bit, since all they would have to do is basically just drop the new motor in.

Where did you order if you dont mind me asking?

Whats the name of the shop you are thinking about having it dropped in at?
