m90 intake question

hello everyone,

This is likely a very stupid question, but i am genuinely confused. I come from the pontiac gtp forums and am used to their version of the eaton m90 with its rear facing inlet. What I am confused about it the ford version...it appears to have an intake on top and one on the rear.. yes i may be stupid, but i really would like to know what I am looking at and why there appear to be 2 intakes on the supercharger. Anyone willing to shed a little light on this for me would be greatly appreciated. thanks
